Hotel Accommodations
We will be staying at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas for the Fremont Street Experience! So far, most of family has decided on staying at the hotel with us in the Gold Tower (previously known as the North Tower). You may stay at whatever hotel you wish; there are many to choose from! We just will be much farther north off the strip. We will be holding a Welcome Cocktail Hour on Friday evening before the wedding for all our out of town guests; as well as, a Goodbye Brunch on Sunday morning after the wedding in our hotel suite at the Golden Nugget Hotel.
Things To Do in the Area
Downtown Las Vegas: There is always something going on at the Fremont Street Experience located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas on the historic street that started it all. The world-famous, one-of-a-kind entertainment venue is home to Viva Vision, the biggest big screen on the planet. The giant LED screen towers 90-feet above a pedestrian mall lined with unique retail shopping kiosks and two permanent performance stages. Free concerts, special events, and roaming street performers entertain the nearly 17 million visitors who come to experience the vintage Vegas attraction each year.
The Venetian: This avant-garde, unorthodox show is part comedy, part performance art and part wacky science experiment, accompanied by a percussion-driven soundtrack. The performers never utter a word, but instead use their eyes, facial expressions and subtle gestures to evoke responses from the audience.
Luxor: There's nothing fun about hot flashes, mood swings, memory loss and weight gain, until now. This show turns these aging woes into hilarious comedy with four wacky characters confessing their experiences with getting older to the tunes of popular '50s, '60s, and '70s songs.
The Venetian: The Venetian resort spent $40 million to design a custom-built theater for "Phantom of the Opera" and renamed the show "Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular." It has been scaled down from it's original two and a half hours down to one hour and 35 minutes. Some dialogue and the intermission have been cut from the original, but all of Webber's well-known songs remain intact. What distinguishes this show from its Broadway counterpart are elaborate new sets and special effects and the 1,800-seat theater, which is itself a spectacle.
Mandalay Bay: Adapted from the popular animated movie, Disney's The Lion King is a visually-stunning masterpiece that takes audiences on a spectacular journey through the African pridelands and into the life of a young lion, Simba.
The Palazzo: This Tony-award winning musical is a cinematic journey through the lives of Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi and Bob Gaudio and their rise to stardom as The Four Seasons. Their voices fit together in perfect harmony yet each of The Four Seasons had a distinctly different personality that becomes apparent as they take turns telling their side of the story.
Monte Carlo: This world champion magician immerses audiences in his world-a world where gloves turn into doves and burning candles appear in his hands. Lance Burton is nationally recognized as one of the world's greatest prestidigitators.
Bally's: It's obvious from the opening song about "Hundreds of Girls" that this show is going to be all about the statuesque, sequined beauties. While there aren't quite hundreds of girls in the show, there are about 85 performers - both topless and covered.
RIO - The Penn & Teller show is an edgy mix of comedy and magic involving knives, guns, fire, a gorilla and a showgirl.
V - The Ultimate Variety Show
Planet Hollywood: When it comes to deciding on a show to see in Las Vegas it can be hard to find one that caters to everyone's tastes, but not if you're watching V The Ultimate Variety Show. This revue features a selection of highly-talented specialty acts from around the world that include everything from stunning gymnastic feats, magicians, high-flying acts, strength performers, and hilarious comedy
New York New York: Get a taste of a more sensuous side of reality. This show explores the different realms of sexuality through stunning imagery, aerialists, comical vignettes and sultry dancing. Unlike other Cirque du Soleil productions, Zumanity has no storyline. Instead, this highly eroticized, cabaret-style spectacular has an array of unique characters whose performances are each themed by different elements of sexuality.
Mirage: This show is a psychedelic journey through the trends and politics of the '60s and most importantly, The Beatles. It started out as a collaboration between George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil's Guy LaLiberté. After Harrison's death, the remaining Beatles and families of the late group members helped bring Harrison's vision to life, sharing their ideas about song selection and song order for the show. If you're looking for a show that's a fusion of acrobatics, dance and visual effects, accompanied by a classic rock `n' roll soundtrack, then all you need is LOVE.
Bellagio: "O" weaves an aquatic tapestry of artistry, surrealism and theatrical romance in this timeless production. The international cast of world-class acrobats, synchronized swimmers, divers and characters perform in, on, and above water to create a breathtaking experience in a magnificent theatre reminiscent of a European opera house.
MGM Grand: This is an unprecedented theatrical event. A masterpiece in storytelling. KÁ uses acrobatic performances, the thrills and action of martial arts techniques from all over the world, plus innovations in puppetry and multimedia to tell the epic tale of twins on a perilous journey to fulfill their shared destiny.
